Communications Officer (Digital)
Would you like to work for one of Scotland’s best communications teams?
Wheatley is Scotland’s leading housing and property-management company and is passionate about ‘Making homes and lives better’.
Our award-winning Communications team plays a vital role in telling the story of how we support people, strengthen communities and deliver real social impact across Scotland.
We’re looking for a talented and motivated Communications Officer (Digital) to join our high-performing team on a temporary basis. This is an opportunity to work at the heart of a values-led organisation, shaping engaging content across both internal and external channels.
The role would suit:
- an experienced communications or press officer with strong digital skills and experience of working with the media, or
- a journalist with a solid digital background and a passion for storytelling across multiple channels.
You’ll work closely with colleagues across Wheatley to create and share compelling, people-focused content. Your work will include:
- producing engaging digital content for our websites, social media channels and staff intranet;
- creating and editing video and audio content (and helping us grow this further);
- writing clear, accurate and impactful stories for a range of audiences;
- supporting media relations, including responding to enquiries and writing press releases;
- contributing to the planning, delivery and evaluation of integrated communications and PR campaigns; and
- sharing stories that highlight how Wheatley is transforming communities and changing lives.
You’ll also be part of a rota providing a 24/7 on-call media service.
You’ll bring:
- excellent writing, filming and editing skills, with a strong eye for detail;
- proven experience producing digital content, ideally within a large or complex organisation;
- confidence working across multiple platforms and channels;
- a genuine interest in audio, video and visual storytelling;
- strong organisational skills and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Just as importantly, you’ll be:
- a collaborative team player;
- flexible, adaptable and multi-skilled with the ability to contribute across all areas of the team’s work;
- a stickler for accuracy and meeting deadlines;
- creative, curious and solutions-focused; and
- a great communicator who builds positive relationships easily, a real ‘people person’ who is ready to go the extra mile to deliver outstanding services.
This is a demanding but highly rewarding role in an organisation where your work genuinely matters. You’ll be part of a supportive, ambitious team that takes pride in delivering high-quality communications that make a difference.
We celebrate individuality and recognise the strength that diversity brings. We want our teams to reflect the communities we serve and warmly welcome applications from under-represented groups.
