Are you ready to make a real impact and tell stories that matter? Join one of Scotland’s leading communications teams and help shape how we tell stories that change lives.

If you’re a confident communicator with excellent writing skills, a sharp news sense, and experience of handling media enquiries, this role is for you.

At Wheatley, we’re driven by our mission of ‘Making homes and lives better’. As Scotland’s leading housing and property-management organisation, how we communicate matters – and our Communications team plays a vital role at the heart of the business.

We’re looking for a talented Communications Officer to join our award-winning, innovative team where every day brings something new. You’ll work at the heart of a busy, high-performing team, supporting both proactive campaigns and reactive media handling across the organisation.

This is a fast-paced role where no two days are the same and sound judgement, pace and accuracy are essential. You’ll:

  • respond to media enquiries and support the handling of press issues;
  • demonstrate a proven track record of writing engaging long-form content (for example, annual reports);draft clear, accurate and engaging content, including press releases, statements and briefings;
  • build and maintain strong relationships with journalists and key stakeholders; and
  • identify and deliver proactive media opportunities that showcase the positive impact we make in our communities.

Applicants with the ability to create high-quality digital content for web, social media and video would be particularly welcome. However, we also encourage applications from candidates who are keen to develop these skills and are willing to learn.

While digital experience is welcome, we are particularly interested in candidates with strong writing skills and experience in a press office or media environment. You’ll bring a calm, professional approach, the ability to work under pressure, and sound judgement when handling complex or sensitive issues.

Join one of Scotland’s top communications teams and play a key role in telling the stories that make a real difference to our customers and communities.
