Get Ready for an Unforgettable Summer Experience with Wheatley!
Are you aged between 16-19 and looking to gain real-world work experience, or a recent school leaver eager to step into the professional world? Look no further! Wheatley's two-week summer work experience programme is back and better than ever!
We are thrilled to announce the return of our popular two-week summer work experience programme.
At Wheatley we are committed to investing in the younger generation. The programme supports young people through the transition from school into further education or employment and we are continuing our commitment to investing in the younger generation. This is a fantastic opportunity for young people to experience the world of work first hand and develop the necessary skills and knowledge to carry them through this transitional period.
The Programme
Our programme offers 20 young people, across Glasgow, Edinburgh and Stranraer, two-weeks paid work experience across various Wheatley teams including frontline housing, repairs and corporate functions.
Each young person will have a dedicated mentor within their assigned placement, as well as ongoing support from our Academy team, who will offer coaching, top tips for interviews and mentoring to prepare them for the next steps in their education or career.
What you will gain:
- Gain firsthand insight into various roles and responsibilities and understand what it takes to excel in a professional environment;
- Boost your confidence – direct support from our programme mentors, will help you build confidence in your abilities;
- Explore different career paths and industries to find what truly excites you;
- Develop your personal skills including valuable training, interview skills and coaching to prepare you for your next steps in your education or career.

Interviews are scheduled for Wednesday, 27 May 2026, Thursday, 28 May 2026 (Glasgow and Edinburgh) and Monday, 1 June 2026 (Stranraer)
Placements will start on Monday, 29 June 2026 (Glasgow/Edinburgh) and Wednesday, 1 July 2026 (Stranraer)
