Concerts bring music, memories and smiles to Livingwell tenants

In partnership with Live Music Now Scotland, 13 concerts were held at Livingwell sites across Glasgow and at West Craigs near Edinburgh.

The programme was funded by the W G Edwards Charitable Foundation and Glasgow City Council.

Performers included Scottish folk and jazz singer Niamh Corkey, Swedish fiddle player and singer Kristina Leesik, and Mexican singer Hugo Franco, giving customers the chance to enjoy a wide variety of musical styles.

The concerts proved hugely popular, with tenants singing along, dancing and joining in throughout the performances. Scottish music was a real favourite and helped create memorable moments for those attending.

Louise Dunlop, Interim Chief Executive of Wheatley Care, said: “It was great to see so many customers enjoying the concerts and spending time together.

“The feedback has been fantastic. People really embraced the performances, whether they were singing along, sharing memories or enjoying the atmosphere.

“Live music is great for bringing people together and these events created a real opportunity for friendship, connection and fun.”

Tenants praised the concerts for creating a welcoming and inclusive environment and giving them the chance to experience different types of music.

One tenant said: “The event was good for getting me out of the house and it was a great gig."

The programme highlighted how arts and cultural activities can improve wellbeing, reduce isolation, strengthen social connections and create lasting memories.

Livingwell is a Wheatley Care service that helps people aged 55 and over live independently in their own homes for as long as possible.
